Overview
Endovascular or percutaneous therapy is used for treating subset of diseases to achieve better cosmetic results and avoiding surgery in larger lesions. Further, in cases that do require surgery, it can help in preventing excessive blood loss and reducing chances of complications.
Large or deep seated lesions require endovascular embolization therapy in which the vessel supplying the AVM is sealed off.
The smaller and superficial lesions can be treated with percutaneous ablative therapies like alcohol and foam injections.
These techniques are less invasive and involve fewer complications than surgery. They are typically OPD/day care procedures with a one day stay at the hospital in case of extensive endovascular procedures.
